There are two plant tissues which are vascular tissues,they are known as complex tissues.


The names are Xylem and Phloem.


Xylem transports water and minerals while Phloem transports food to all parts of plant.

They are the vascular tissues present in the cell.

They are the complex permanent tissues.

A complex permanent tissue is consist of both living and non living cells.

Xylem is responsible for water conduction.

While phloem is responsible for food transportation.


Xylem consists of :

• Tracheids
• Vessels
• Xylem paranchyma
• Xylem fibres

Phloem consists of :

• Sieve tubes
• Companion cells
• Phloem fibres
• Phloem paranchyma.
