Differences arose between bhadrabahu who took Jainism to Karnataka and sthulabhadra who was based in magadha. This led to division of Jainism into two sects--
1) Shwetambras or white class led by Sthulabhadra. They fasted but did not believe in extreme penance and austerity.
2) Digambras followed Bhadrabahu. They consider sky as their clothing and do not believe in covering their bodies. This proved their detachment from the worldly bonds. They kept long fasts and led a life of austerity

the two different Sect of Jainism are Digambara and Sevtembra Digambara are white clad and choose not to wear clothes where Svetember as wear white clad covered their mouth with a piece of White cloth
