Cellulose is a type of carbohydrate that can be digested by ruminants and not by humans. Ruminants have a large sac-like structure called rumen between the oesophagus and the small intestine. The cellulose of the food is digested here by the action of certain bacteria which are not present in humans.

Dear Student,
◆ Answer -
Cellulose is a carbohydrate that can be digested by ruminants but not by humans.
● Explaination -
- In ruminants, food gets clogged in rumen, first chamber of alimentary canal.
- Here, digesting enzyme cellulase is present which helps in digestion of cellulose.
- As humans don't have cellulase enzyme, they can't digest cellulose.
Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
