Type of inflorescence:
- Sunflower belongs to the Asteraceae family. Asteraceae family has a capitulum type of inflorescence where the ray florets and the disc florets both are arranged on the plate called receptacle.
- Ray florets are the so-called petals that we see and the disc florets comprise of the central brown portion.
- Fig has the hypanthodium type of inflorescence. It is a special type of inflorescence where the receptacle is fleshy and folded to form a flask like structure, with a pore at top.
- The male flowers are situated at the proximity to this pore, and the female flowers are located towards the bottom. There are neuter flowers at their junction.
