Endoplasmic reticulum in biological terms is a continuous membrane system which forms a series of flattened sacs in the cytoplasm and serves multiple functions.

The main function of endoplasmic reticulum includes syntheses, folding, modification and transport of proteins.

All eukaryotic cells contain an endoplasmic reticulum.

Endoplasmic reticulum can be divided into two types:

(1) Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum (SER)

(2) Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (RER)

Let see your answer !!!!!

● Endoplasmic Reticulum : -

➡ It is a membrane - bound tubes which extent from plasma membrane to nuclear membrane.

➡ It is of two types : -

(i) Rough - endoplasmic reticulum (RER)

(ii) Smooth - endoplasmic reticulum (SER)

➡ RER : - On the surface of RER many bits are present called ribosomes and it provides rough appearance. It activily participate in protein synthesis.

➡ SER : - It involves in fat synthesis and to make plasma membrane. This process is called biogenesis.

SER detoxifine the poisions and drugs. It provides a shape to the cell.

thanks
