The United States adopted the policy of "containment" towards the Communism ( propagated by USSR) after the end of World War II. It is usually called the Cold War foreign policy of US block. It was a geopolitical strategy to stop the spread of Communism. This policy was a counterattack to the Soviet Union's moves of spreading communism in Eastern Europe, Latin America, Korea, China and Vietnam.
