Answer:

There two water bodies, namely "Palk Strait" and "Gulf of Mannar" which separate "Sri Lanka" From "India". "Palk strait" is a thin strip of water between "India" and "Sri Lanka". It is connected to the "Bay of Bengal" in the northeast to "Palk Bay" in the south. It is entitled after "Robert Palk". He was the former governor of Madras zone during the British period.  Furthermore, the "Palk Strait" is parted from "Gulf of Mannar" along the prominent "Ram Sethu" a.k.a "Adam's bridge".
