The three different types of pollutants on the basis of physical nature are:

1. Solid- plastics, animal wastes.

2. Liquid- oil, chemicals.

3. Gaseous- carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide.

Biological pollutants also exist which cause land, water as well as air pollution. Example: Bacteria, fungi, etc.

Pollution can be of land, air or water and the above mentioned pollutants can cause any one or more than one type of pollution.
