Hey Friend,

The strong alkali metals and alkaline earth metals are obtained by electrolysis of their chlorides.

The chlorides are in molten state. These metals like sodium (Na), potassium (K), Magnesium (Mg), Calcium (Ca) etc... are obtained by electrolysis of their chlorides.

These metals are highly electropositive and by electrolysis of their chlorides, the metals are deposited in pure state at cathode!

Hope it helps!
