Nobody is perfect
Our school captain -Abhimanyu Mukherjee was a person admired by the entire school. Standing at six feet, with a baritone voice, he was good at everything-be it Sports, Academics, Acting or Elocution.
He won several trophies for our school and we called him Mr. Dependable and sometimes Mr. Perfectionist.
He was our role model.
Mr. Aniruddha Banerjee, our Sports Teacher was another person we admired. An ace cricket player he was our cricket coach too. We never lost a match for his superb coaching.
Now our school got an invitation to play for the Under Nineteen National Championship. We all were very excited. Practice began and the day of the Tournament arrived.
We all crowded at the stadium. It was a rainy day and we won the match. Always wise in his decision, on that day our coach made the wrong decision to bat second.
By the time we got to bat, the field was all muddy and the ball could hardly swing a four.
Our opener was Abhimanyu , we were all eyes on him. But alas! He went out for a duck. The others followed him and we lost the match disastrously.
With a heavy heart we returned to school.
It was now I realised in school that nobody is perfect.
