Answer:

I consider almost everything I did in my career to fit this description. I was always engaged in specific projects that had clear deadlines and clear outcome goals including budgets.

In every case, I followed a step by step approach, tackling a ‘to do” list made daily based on the overall project timeline with key checkpoints built in. When things got off track or unexpected events occurred, I reworked the plan, doubled up tasks, got extra people involved or whatever was necessary for that particular thing.

I am lucky in that every project I handled was finished either on time or ahead of time and always on or below budget. It took lots of people working carefully. It took good management. It took the ability to oversee a long time frame with lots of moving parts and specialists involved.

I was able to create a city ambulance company, have it licensed and on the street in 6 weeks; a cancer center created, built, staffed and operating on 14 months; a new energy facility in 12 months; a new online e-commerce business in 4 weeks; recruiting 21 doctors in 12 months. You accomplish these things by working cooperatively with others, having clear goals and timelines and regular checkpoints with contingency planning and the ability to move quickly when crises occur.
