"We rise by lifting others", This quote is so true since no one has achieved great heights without the support and prayers of others.
I am not a social worker or any charity foundation member, but I give special consideration for helping others in my life, because i believe that I was, and am, helped by a lot of people around.
We can help anyone be it a child, a cleaner, anyone, as the quotes goes like " We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone". Although helping gives us a lot of satisfaction and happiness, helping our family member, who we are going to see almost throughout our life gives us a special kind of satisfaction and dignity.
I will narrate an incident in my life, when i happened to help my cousin brother from a really torturing and disturbing future.
I was studying in a hostel in Pune, for my graduation. Me and my friends usually walked to our college without using any transportation, and that was really fun too. One of those days, I was shocked to see my cousin Brother near the market area. He was staying in Gujarat, and as per my knowledge, he has no friends, no contacts, and nothing in Pune. I tried to go near him, but he seemed to be really tensed and was busy in his phone, and i was also rather late, so i thought of calling him later. On that day, evening, i called my aunt, and excitedly told her that i saw him there that day. But to my surprise, she was rather shocked and told me that he didn't told them all about it and she said that those days, he had a lot of mood swings, and that he constantly shouted at his parents. I called up the phone, and the next thing, i did was to call him.
He picked up my call, and told that he would call me later, and he sounded really disturbed. i had no classes for 10 days due to a strike, and i was determined to find out what was bothering him.
i walked up to the market, and saw him this day too with a cover in his hand, which he was holding rather tightly. I first thought of showing out, but then i decided not to and stayed behind. But, that decision was worth, following him like that without him noticing me, i found out rather shockingly that he was into drugs.
i was scared, and i ran out from there, and after locking myself up in my closet, i cried out loud. without knowing what to do to help my best cousin to get rid of that devilish thing. I took my lap, and found out some contact numbers for this, and i called them and told all about it.
They asked me everything i knew, and they came to my hostel the next day and asked me to show me the place where i saw all that. But i told them not to involve my cousin in that case, and that i want him changed to the old him. The officer was a kind man, who assured me his safety.
After 3 weeks, i got a call from my cousin, crying and thanking me. I was also left into tears. He was my best friend from my childhood, and i had helped him get over such a devilish thing.
From that day, upto this moment, we continued to be the best friends, and his past now exist in our memories as a night mare only. He is now perfectly clean from drugs and also an active member of one of the leading anti drugs foundation.

I tend to try and listen to my friends to be able for them to find out what they want or to get settled with some disturbing things that happened to them. It's how therapy helped me in a lot of cases. Listening and the right questions.
When I have time, I offer help with moving or being a furniture truck with my car.
I don’t give as much money as I used to, because that didn’t go well at some times.
But I still offer hospitality or free German lessons to some who seem to be able to appreciate it. A few days ago I helped someone to apply for a job and internet use connected to the job offer.
Was part of a training for a children’s national phone helpline.
I used to put coins in public bathrooms on the side of the sink and imagined how someone would find them who just needed those Euros to pay the parking machine. :-)
Best random acts of kindness are those where both sides keep wondering whether something nice found a person to enjoy it. Like flowers on a door mat of an elderly single person. Etc.
