When I was a child, I always spent every summer with my grandparents. They lived far away from Ponferrada.

There are just a few images I can still clearly recall from that wonderful time. I remember the old wooden trailer where I used to sleep and the long walks across the country.

One day while I was running and playing, something strange happened. I immediately knew that something was going wrong because my grandmother began shouting and running towards me. Then she ordered me not to move. Luckily, she grabbed me quickly by my left arm and started to beat a big snake with her walking stick.

I’ll never forget that day. I strongly believe that it was the sacriest moment in all my life. I might have died if my granny hadn’t been there.
