I can never forget the student council election day in which I was elected to be a part of the school’s prefectorial board. The preliminary round consisted of giving an impromptu speech on a topic. I spoke well and was elected for the next round.
In the second round all the elected students had to appear for an interview. A panel of experienced teachers headed by the vice-principal interviewed us. I answered all the questions quite confidently and enthusiastically.
I was so excited when my name appeared in the final list of elected students’ council. All the elected students were conferred designation badges and sashes in the investiture ceremony. We were also administered the oath of responsibilities.
Addressing the prefects, house captains, head boy, and head girl, the Principal explained to us the significance of our office. We had to be perfect role models for the school students in academics, discipline, and co-curricular activities.
This is how I was elected to the students’ council of the school. The responsibilities of the prefectorial board will help me develop leadership qualities.
