A source close to the development told TOI that the company is concentrating on its operations in Gurgaon. Earlier, the company had shifted the corporate office from Kolkata to Mumbai and two years back, it was again shifted from Mumbai to Gurgaon.
Following a devastating fire in March 2014, Shalimar Paints had declared 'suspension of work' at its Howrah plant in July 2014. In August that year, the company did not have the requisite financial strength to repair and rebuild the fire-damaged factory quickly, a top official in the company added. Later, the company executives met the state government officials to inform that they are exploring various possibilities to reopen the factory.
