National medical commission bill winter session

In the Winter Session of the Parliament, the National Medical Commission Bill, 2017 will focus on the forming a new apex medical regulator. The existing Medical Council of India will be removed and a National Medical Commission Bill will take its place. This is being done in an attempt to rectify the flaws in the existing medical ecosystem.

The Bill features a four-tier structure to regulate medical education. There will be common entrance and licentiate exams that any medical graduate is expected to clear to get a practicing license.
