This would be because the natural wool fibre is produced by a living thing a sheep. So, the wool is the remains of a living cells, which could be used as food for moth

Natural wool is attacked by moths because natural wool being a natural fibre is obtained from sheep. Acrylic wool is made from plastic and so is not attacked by insects of any type.

EXPLANATION:

This means that natural wool is obtained from the remains of living cells which can serve as food source for insects like moths.

Acrylic wool is made from synthetic fibres and is produced artificially. Acrylic wool is made from plastic and so is not attacked by insects of any type. In addition, insects cannot affect acrylic wool in any manner because it is not degradable.
