Nature worship is an age old belief.Such a belief has been rendered by some tribal communities who consider all creations of nature such as plants, animals, mountains, rivers, forests etc as sacred and worship them.It is on account of such worship that some forests are being preserved in their native form and are known as 'Sacred Groves' or forests of Gods and Goddesses. These forests are reserved and any interference with them has been banned. These sacred groves are rich in rare and diverse species.
The inhabitants of five villages in the Alwar district of Rajasthan have declared 1,200 hectares of forest as the Bhairodev Dakav ‘Sonchuri’ They have enforced their own set of rules and regulations.Hunting is banned in these forests and wild life has been protected against outside encroachment.
In and around Bishnoi village of Rajasthan herds of black buck (chinkara), nilgai and peacocks form an integral part of the community. The Bishnois worship these animals and protect them.

Nature worship is an old age tribal belief based on that all the creations of the nature are to be protected.
These beliefs have made many forests left in their pristine form called as ‘Sacred Groves’.
This have helped in conservation of many trees and animals such as Mahua , Kudambna , tiger , asiatic cheetah , one horned rhinoceros, pink headed duck etc.
