Why does Jody want to bring the fawn home?

Jody wanted to bring the fawn home because he felt they had killed the doe for their purpose and the fawn had been orphaned for no fault of it own.He kept thinking about the hungry and scared fawn.He felt that it was their responsibility to take care of fawn or else it would starve to  death

Jody's father had killed the doe and used its liver to draw the poison out. Without its mother, the fawn was an orphan now and likely to starve to death in the forest. Jody had understand the circs of the young fawn and brought it home.
