It involves planning, rescue, medical aid, allocation of resources, rehabilitation of affected people during the short term. Development of the entire area, effecting preparedness in disaster prone areas, creating awareness among the people living in these vulnerable areas, building shelters for protection during such disasters are some of the major long term disaster management activities. Over a period of time some universal disaster management techniques and methods have been developed on scientific lines and people in the government machinery are being trained in it.
