Women can very well remain standing and travel. They donot NEED a seat but they REQUIRE a separate coach because men (no generalizations made) often tend to make them uncomfortable staring, touching or passing comments.

In education they REQUIRE reservation to promote girl education (mostly pertaining to backward regions)

It's not really needed because their survival doesn't depend upon reservation. It's just required because the treatment they get NEEDS to be changed.

But the sad reality is when reservations become necessary and donot seem to stick to their main aim of being a temporary solution for an issue rather become a permanent practice of all times.

EDIT: equality doesn't always lead to justice. 3 men of different heights trying to watch a cricket match from outside the stadium will be given justice only when the one with the shortest in height is given the biggest chair(say) to stand on..while the tallest not given anything as he can manage to watch without outside help..Justice would be met even though equality wouldn't.
