how woman's faces discrimination in India?

HimanshuPandeya: 1. The literacy rate among women is 54% while that of men is 76%.

2. Equal wages act provides that equal wages should be provided to equal work but women are paid much less than men when both do exactly the same work.

3. Many parents prefer to have sons and find ways to get the girl child aborted which has led to a decline in the child gender ratio to merely 933.

Gender inequalities, and their social causes, impact India's sex ratio, women's health over their lifetimes, their educational attainment, and economic conditions. Gender inequality in India is a multifaceted issue that concerns men and women. Some argue that various gender equality indices place men at a disadvantage.

Hlo....

In our country women still lag much behind men despite some improvements since Independence. Women face disadvantage, discrimination and oppression in various ways:

(i) The literacy rate among women is only 54 per cent as compared with 76 per cent among men.

(ii) Similarly, a smaller proportion of girl student goes for higher studies. Girls are performing as well as boys in school. But they drop out because parents prefer to spend their resources for their boys' education rather than spending equally on their sons and daughters. (iii) The proportion of if women among the highest, paid and valued jobs is still very small. On an average, an Indian woman works one hour more than an average man every day.

hope it helps u....
