Neem leaf are properly sun-dried and put in an iron drum containing wheat.Why?

Neem leaves are well known for their antibacterial, antifungal properties and as a pest repellent. Hence sundried neem leaves are put into an iron drum with wheat to prevent pests from growing in the wheat. Traditionally, neem leaves have been used to protect food grains from pests, clothes and also in the treatment of diseases.  

Neem leaves act on insects in various ways:

i) Inhibit the development of eggs, larvae, pupae

ii) Block the molting in larvae or pupae

iii) Prevent mating

iv) Kills adults
