Networking Gadgets, Inc. currently employs eight people but plans to hire 10 more in the next
four months. Users will work on multiple projects, and only those users assigned to a project
should have access to the project files. You have to set up the network to make it easy to
manage and back up yet still provide centralized storage for project files
1.
Would you choose a peer to peer network, a server-based network, or a
combination of both? Why?

Answer:

I would go for a server-based network. I’d rather have the shared files on a server that I manage than stored on their computers. Who knows what the end user will do. At least I know they can’t mess with the server configuration, so the backups are more likely to work. Plus, 10 people is a large increase and I wouldn’t want to have to change the network later on if we grew even more.
