Neurosecretory cells of hypothalamus produce all of the following except Prolactin.

Option: (4)

Explanation:

  • Prolactin is secreted by the ‘anterior pituitary’ or the adenohypophysis. All the other hormones are released by the neurohypophysis but are produced by the neurosecretory cells where on they are carried on to the posterior pituitary and then are released into the ‘blood stream’.
  • Somatic in stimulates growth but somatostatin inhibits growth. ‘Oxytocin stimulates’ uterine contraction that helps in child delivery. Other than these the neurosecretory cells also secreted ADH hormone.
