Vietnam formed the Democratic Republic under the influence of Ho Chi Minh. However, the following are the main problems faced by the new republic:

1.  The French attempted to retrieve their authority by using Bao Dai, the monarch, as the puppet of their hand.

2. Due to the attacks of the French, the army of Viet Minh was driven to flee to the hills.

3. In the year 1954, at Dien Bien Phu after fighting for eight years, the French were crushed.

4. The French militants including their leaders and officers were imprisoned.
