Mumbai, Maharashtra, July 28, Mahatma Gandhi College of Arts and Sciences celebrated the Annual Social Gathering on the 27th of this month. The occasion was graced by many eminent personalities who are the ex-students of this college. Mr. Rao, the well known business tycoon and Mr. Prasad, Honourable Member of Parliament, were amongst the chief guests.

The meet began with the National Anthem and the College Anthem. The Principal of the College, Mr. Pawar, welcomed all the guests with an opening speech. This was followed by a dance drama act by the students, creating awareness on saving natural resources like water and fuel.

Next, the students were felicitated for achieving excellence in academics and in the field of sports. The top three students from the Arts and Science sections were awarded a medal and a certificate by Mr. Prasad. Mr. Prasad congratulated the College for the outstanding results of last year. He also encouraged the students to work hard and contribute towards the growth of the country.

This was followed by a speech from Mr. Rao who said that he gives full credit for his success to this college. He will always remain indebted to his teachers and professors for showing him the right path always.

Mr. Rao also announced a scholarship for the student of the year. From the current year onwards the student who is an all-rounder and excels in academics as well as sports would be awarded the scholarship sponsored by Mr. Rao's Company. This year the scholarship of Two Lakh Indian Rupees was awarded to Samir Patel, a student of the Arts section.

According to reports, Mr. Rao also sponsors another scholarship in the Institute of Business Management, from where he attained his MBA degree.

The Annual Social Gathering ended with a vote of thanks from The Vice Principal of the College.
