At least 6 people were deceased and as many as 20 people were injured when a portion of an old five-storeyed building collapsed in Sarojini Vihar, New Delhi in the early morning yesterday.
The accident occurred nearly at 4:00 am. This collapse was witnessed by a neighbor. According to her, she heard loud noises and when she followed them, she saw the huge building collapsing with a loud thundering noise. Fire brigades, rescue teams, and disaster management teams were called upon immediately at the location where this accident took place.
The teams coordinated and saved as many lives as possible. Of the survivors, the ones who were severely injured were provided first aid and then shifted to City Hospital, 2 kilometers away from the location of the accident. Engineers and architects visited the location and concluded that the building collapsed due to structural defects.
After the primary investigation, it was claimed that the building has been made illegally. Police have not yet arrested any person in connection to this accident.
