Newton's first law of motion is called law of inertia because first law only states about the inertia, which is the enherent property of any body by the virtue of which if the body is in motion ,it tends to be in motion until any outside force is applied on it or if any body in rest ,it tends to be in rest until any outside force is applied on it.
