According to Newton the velocity of sound in a medium depend upon the elasticity of medium and it's density.The sound waves propagtes due to compression and rarefaction.The process was slow so temperature remains constant but Laplace said that the process of compression and rarefaction was fast so temperature donot remains constant but heat remains constant
