why jupiter's force due to gravity more than that of earth?

The jupiter has more mass than our earth has. And we know gravity is directly proportional to the mass. Hence jupiter has more gravity. But interestingly jupiter"s  gravity is just 2.45 times of the earth's. The reason is jupiter is giant planet of gases.
