Newton's third law of motion because according to this law to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction when we push the water backwards it pushes us forward

Swimming is possible on the application of Newton’s law of motion only as it is also a motion which follows the third law of Newton’s laws of motion.

Explanation:

The third law of Newton’s laws of motion states that, to every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. In swimming, taking first stance applies force on the water while displacing it backwards, hence, the water applies equal and opposite reaction of force on the body displacing and moving body forward.
