[Ni(CN)₄]²⁻ is diamagnetic while [Cr(NH₃)₆]³⁺ is paramagnetic, explain.

The +3 oxidation state is seen in the Cr whereas NH3 will show the weak field ligands that will show no pairing in the 3d orbital.


Hence, due to the hybridization method, it will show the paramagnetic effect.


Whereas the Ni will have the +2 oxidation state that will show the dsp2 hybridization showing diamagnetic nature.
