Nicole bought six pounds of apples at $1.50 per pound. The store had a discount of $2 off her total purchase. Nicole and her friend then divided the cost of the purchase evenly. Which expression can be used to determine how much Nicole and her friend each paid for the apples?

Total cost of apples=6*1.50

=9.0

Total discount on Apple's=9.0-2.0

=7.0

That's divided in two parts =7.0/2

=3.5

So required Apple's cost=$3.5

CP of one pond of apple= 1.5 x 6
= $ 9.0
Now Discount by store is $ 2
The purchase of apple = $ 9- 2 = $ 7
Now Nicole and her friend paid for the apple
 = \frac{purchase \: price \: paid \: }{total \: number \: of \: friend} \\ = \frac{7}{2} \\ = 3.5
So they each paid $ 3.5
