Given

Nidhi has 3 times as many Rs.2 coins as she has rs.5 coins. If she has in all a sum of Rs.77

Find out

How many coins of each denomination does she have?

Solution

★ Let the Rs.5 coins be x then Rs.2 coins be 3x

*According to the given condition*

  • Sum of both the coins = 77

➙ 5 × x + 2 × (3x) = 77

➙ 5x + 6x = 77

➙ 11x = 77

➙ x = 77/11

➙ x = 7

Hence,

  • Number of Rs.5 coins = x = 7
  • Number of Rs.2 coins = 3x = 21

Given

  • Nidhi has 3 times as many ₹ 2 coins as she has ₹ 5 coins.
  • She has in all a sum of ₹ 77.

To Find

The number of coins of each denomination she has.

Solution

Let the number of ₹ 5 be x. Then the number of ₹ 2 coins is 3x.

Cost made by ₹ 5 coins = ₹ 5x

Cost made by ₹ 2 coins = 2 × 3x = ₹ 6x

A/q,

5x + 6x = 77

⇒ 11x = 77

⇒ x = 77/11

⇒ x = 7
