Given: Nine litres of milk is equally shared by four kids•

To Find :  How much does each get?

(i) What if it were shared by three?

Solution:

Nine litres of milk is equally shared by four kids•

Let say Each kid gets  x litre

Then 4 kids get  4x litre

Equate 4x with  9

=> 4x = 9

Divide by 4 both sides

=> x = 9/4

=> x = 2.25

Hence each kid get  2.25 liter

= 2 liter 250 ml

If shared by three  then each gets  9/3  = 3 litre
