1)Nio is reduced to form Ni.

2)H2 is oxidised to form H2O.

As both oxidation and reduction takes place it is called Redbox reaction.

In the given equation too, both oxidation and reduction are seen taking place.

Here, Nio is reduced to Ni. On the other hand, H2 is oxidized and results in the formation of H2O.
