Answer:

Nitrobenzene can be converted into benzoic acid as follows. Benzene diazonium chloride is treated with H₃PO₂ to give benzene. Benzene is reacted with CO and HCl in presence of anhydrous AlCl₃ to form benzene. Benzaldehyde is oxidised by acidified KMnO₄ to form benzoic acid.

Nitrobenzene can be converted to benzamide by following steps -

(i) React Nitrobenzene with H_{2} / Pd in presence of ethanol to form aniline .

(ii) Using diazotization reaction , convert aniline into diazonium salt .

(iii) React benzenediazonium chloride with CuCN / KCN then after reacting with H_{3}O^{+} ion it will convert into benezoic acid .

(iii) After reacting benezoic acid with SOCl_{2} followed by NH_{3} , we get Benzamide .
