Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for plant growth. But farmers who cultivate leguminous crops do not apply nitrogenous fertilizers during cultivation. Why?

Because when nitrogen as a chemical or used as a fertilizer then it may harm the plant due to excessive chemical

Leguminous crops like pulses have RHIZOBIUM bacteria in their root nodules. These bacteria concert the atmospheric nitrogen into compounds of nitrogen which can be used by the plants easily. therefore these plants do not need extra provided nitrogen through fertilizers.
