Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for plants growth,but farmers who cultivates green gram,bengal gram,black gram do not apply nitrogenous fertilizers during cultivation .

why do farmers not use nitrogenous fertilizers during their cultivation

Because pulses are leguminous plants. they have  a bacteria on their root nodules which convert atmospheric nitrogen into nitrogenous compounds which was later absorbed by plant . they gain enough nitrogen for that so the farmers didn't need to apply nitrogenous fertilizer separately.
