Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for the plant growth. Yet farmers eho grow green gram, Bengal gram, black gram do not apply nitrogenous fertilizers during cultivation. Why ?

This is because the pulses like gram have leguminous root nodules which helps in formation of bacteria which do not even fixation and thus there is no use nitrogenous fertilizers.
