Asaf Jahi dynasty. ... The dynasty was founded by Mir Qamar-ud-Din Siddiqi, a viceroy of the Deccan under the Mughal emperors from 1713 to 1721. He intermittently ruled after Aurangzeb's death in 1707 and under the title Asaf Jah in 1724.

The founder of Asaf Jahi Dynasty was Mir Qamaruddin khan, a courtier of Mughal Mohammed shah. Mir Qamaruddin proclaimed himself to be an independent ruler and assumed the title Nizam Ul Mulk . Muhammad shah honored d with the title Asaf Jahi and thus he began his rule over Golconda fort.
There were ten Asafjahi Nizams. Two of the Nizams were exterminated in Kurnool and Cudappa. Hence this dynasty can be rightly called the Nizam shahi Dynasty.
The founder of Hyderabad was Asafjahi I and his kingdom protracted from river Narmada to Trichinapally. After the death of Asaf jahi I, there was a scrimmage between his sons who reinforced their support to French and English each which increased their hostility between each other.
