Jack had received a letter from his girlfriend who had gone to meet her relatives. When he opened the letter, he realised he couldn't understand anything. He went to his grandfather's house and asked him how he could his newspaper. Hi grandfather said he could read the newspaper now only because he had spectacles.
Jack was very happy to hear this. He thought - "All I have to do to read this letter is buy a pair of spectacles." So off he went to the spects shop. He asked the shopkeeper to give him a pair of spects. When the shopkeeper asked for the power of the glasses he didn't know what to say. He just pointed at a frame on the shelf and it was handed to him. He put it on and asked for a book. He tried to read the book but still couldn't, so he looked up at the shop keeper - puzzled.
the shopkeeper saw that Jack was holding the book upside down.He realised that Jack didn't know how to read and write and thought he could if he only wore spects. So then the shop keeper explained to Jack that the spectacles just help you see better. To read and write, one must learn.
