The non alignment was a movement which was formed during the cold war.
It was initiative of then Yugoslav Persident Josip Broz Tito.
It was necessary as an organization of states who did not seek to align themselves either with the Soviet Union or the United States, but remained independent.
As of 2012, this movement has 120 members at the moment..
