Non living things also grow like mountains and sand mounds so should growth be considered a defining property of living organisms..??

No,the non living things can't be defined as the property of living organism.Since they don't have any types of motion of their own compare to living things.
e.g- the sun(natural non living source ) which rises in the east and sets in the west, is comparable to many God made things like sand mounds... :)
