Cultural absorption is a kind of process through which individual or group absorbs

other culture.

When a person happens to live in new cultural environment, he tries to receive

views, behaviors, thoughts and feelings, values i.e. whole life pattern of that place. Thus, absorption happens.

For example, after marriage girls try to absorb the culture of their in-laws.

The term social change is used to indicate the changes that take place in human

interactions and interrelations. Two examples of social change are given below:

1. Many places in Bangladesh, Tractors are being used instead of plows.

2. Multimedia classroom is now used in many educational institutions.

Q. Make a list of voluntary initiatives that may be taken by you along with your local friends in your school to help COVID-19 positive patients if such a situation arises in your locality like Ronnie’s.

The list of voluntary initiatives that can be taken by me along with my school friends

in my area for COVID-19 patients are given below:

• We can deliver foods and medical supplies for those family who has to stay in quarantine for being COVID-19 positive.
• Extremely poor, day laborers are sure to be in financial trouble if they have to stay at home for a longer period of time. We can give them financial support if it is possible.
• We can raise awareness about the importance of handwashing, physical distancing and wearing a mask in these hard times.
• We can encourage people to stay home if they feel unwell and maintain at least 6 feet distance between them and people coughing or sneezing.
• Train people about the significance of washing their hands regularly with soap and water, or clean the with alcohol-based hand rub.
• We also need to encourage people to avoid unnecessary travelling and staying away from large groups of people.

There are many of us who cuts off contact with COVID-19 victims completely.

Which is indicative of inferior mentality. We all should cooperate with the victims.

Socialization is an ongoing process throughout a person’s life. This process

continues from birth to the death of the person. Socialization is a process whereby

an individual learns to adjust to a group or a society and behave in a manner approved by the group or society.

Media and information and communication technology have strong roles nowadays in socialization. This role is on the rise as technology is advancing every day.

Digital newspaper and media are one of the finest gifts of information and communication technology. Now we can get information about the whole world within seconds. Every news that we need to follow are in the grasp of our hands because of ICT. Now we can get updated information about the COVID-19 patients and hope of the vaccine because of online newspaper, Television or Radio.

Communication is made easier than ever by the help of information and communication technology. Now, we can communicate with other within seconds by the help of internet via audio or video chatting. Doctors and patients now can interact with each other without being present at the doctor’s chamber. This vastly reduces the COVID-19 cases as it is mentioned in the above stem.

During this critical time students are taking online lessons from the teacher because

of information and communication technology. From the above discussion, it can be said that information and communication technology is playing an important role in our socialization.
