Normally bacteria are present in our mouth but they are not harmful
to us. However, if we do not clean our teeth and mouth after eating,
many harmful bacteria also begin to live and grow in it. These bacteria
break down the sugars present from the leftover food and release
acids....
what type of acids?

Answer:

Streptococcus mutans, or "S. mutans," is the bacteria identified the most with tooth decay, and is present in all areas of the mouth. For dental decay to occur, according to Britannica, the normal presence of S. mutans in the mouth have to make contact with sucrose or sugar-containing products.
