Father feels to have learnt many things beacuse they are fake and insincere things. They do also considered hypocrisies. These things don't bring one lasting happiness and contentment. One has to regret them. The father too has tasted the futility and dissatisfaction of harbouring these evil things. So he wants to get rid of them. he wants to be same sincere he use to be once upon a time in the past. He appeals to his son to teach him that child - like sincerity.
