If you are in a room, more than likely you are surrounded by four walls that are all perpendicular to each other. Where they meet creates a line. The ceiling is perpendicular to all four walls, and so is the floor.
If the floor and ceiling of the room you are in is perpendicular to all four walls, then that must mean that the ceiling and floor are parallel.
Perpendicular lines can be found on the globe, where lines of latitude and longitude intersect.
