Diffusion is a process by which objects move from one state to another.
Diffusion plays a very major role in helping cells intake their food.
Osmosis is a very special kind of diffusion in which water moves from one state to another.
Through osmosis, there can be three types of solutions, hypotonic solution, hypertonic solution and isotonic solution.
In hypotonic solution, the concentration of water in the surroundings of the cell is higher than the concentration of water in the cell as a result the cell swells up because water move from surroundings in the cell by osmosis. In hypertonic solution the concentration of water is higher inside the cell then the concentration of water and its surroundings search and as a result water moves out of the cell through osmosis. In isotonic solution the concentration of water inside the cell and its surroundings is balanced and no reaction take place.
